Secondary Pages for Individual Newspapers
Here you have the ability to select a specific issue from the “Browse” box, or search across all of the paper’s issues from the “Search” box.

Browsing:
If you know which issue you want to see, use the “Browse” box. First, click on the “down arrow” at the right of the “Select a Year” box, and a list of the years that are available for this newspaper appears below. Move your mouse down the list or click on the scroll bar on the right to highlight the year you’re interested in. Once the year is highlighted, simply click to show the “Select an Issue” box.
Next, click on the down arrow at the right of the “Select an Issue” box and a list of all the individual issues that are available for that year are displayed. Move your mouse down the list or click on the scroll bar on the right to highlight the issue date you’re interested in. Once that date is highlighted, click to open a separate window which will display that issue’s table of contents on the left side and the PDF image of the front page on the right side. (See “Viewing Issues and Articles”.)
Another feature of the Secondary Page is browsing all the births, marriages, or deaths in this newspaper. This can be done by clicking on the appropriate link in the “Browse box”. The list of birth, marriage, or death notices will be displayed on a search-results page. (See “Search Results Page”.)

Searching:
The “Search” box provides several useful keyword searching options. Each works in the same way; they just search through different items within the newspaper.
NOTE: Article headlines are keyed in, and as a result, searches on them using the “Headline” option are 99+% accurate. Article text, however, is generated from optical character recognition software, which is not always accurate. On average, searches on the article text, using the “Keyword” option are 70-75% accurate.
NOTE: Classifying articles as birth, marriage, or death notices is done by examining headlines. These types of notices sometimes were printed in an issue but were not labeled as such by a headline. For example, in some papers birth announcements normally were included in a long article listing many different local news items, only one of which was a birth. When this happens, the article will be classified as “news” and will not be classified as a birth announcement. Consequently, these articles will not be retrieved through a genealogical search option. You should use the “Keyword” option instead.
For each search option, simply enter in the keyword(s) you would like to search on in the appropriate box and click on the “Go” button next to that box. If you want your keywords to be searched on as a phrase, click the small box next to the “Go” button. (See “Exact Phrase Search”.)
Your search results will be displayed on a separate search-results page. (See “Search Results Page”.)
